Ulvön

Out here you have the mainland far behind you, in front of you only open sea.

You'll find yourself in a remarkably beautiful middle ground of picturesque fishing villages, unspoilt nature and you'll be fascinated by steep cliffs plunging straight into the sea.

Ulvön is our archipelago's largest tourist destination with great cultural values thanks to well-preserved boathouses, residential buildings and yeast walls.

It was once Norrland's largest fishing village and is sometimes called the Pearl of the Bothnian Sea or Norrland's Sandhamn.

Here you can stroll along the harbour street and the many iconic red fishing shacks.

Here you will find Ulvö Chapel, one of the oldest on the Norrland coast, dating from 1622, with fine wall and ceiling paintings.

A walk up to Lotsberget, with a panoramic view of Ulvöhamn and the archipelago, is highly recommended.

For those interested in culture, a visit to Ulvö Museum is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the cultural history of fishing, surströmming and mining.

There are many activities for children at Ulvö Hotell, such as a heated swimming pool, mini golf, beach volleyball court, playgrounds and barbecue areas.

A tip is to also make a day trip to northern Ulvön, Sandvikens Fiskeläge, Fjären or Norrsand beach.
